Mrs. Georgetta Medlock has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Law Enforcement and a Master’s Degree in Counseling, both obtained from Prairie View A & M University. She is licensed by the state of Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor and is also recognized as a National Certified Counselor (NCC) by the National Board of Certified Counselors. Mrs. Medlock is a Clinically Certified Forensic Counselor. She is a member of the Texas Corrections Association, The National Association of Blacks in Criminal Justice, American Counseling Association and is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. Mrs. Medlock currently serves as a Board Member for Sister to Sister Gathering which is a 503c Organization that seeks to enrich and empower the lives of women and girls. She is an author, speaker, and advocate for young girls and youth, with an unwavering commitment to being an advocate for children and youth, particularly girls.

Mrs. Medlock’s previous experiences include 13 years with The Texas Department of Criminal Justice-Parole where she started her career as a Parole Officer supervising ex-offenders eventually working her way through the ranks to obtain a role in management before embarking on her career in the managed care arena. Mrs. Medlock has over 12 years of progressive leadership experience in the healthcare industry with a Fortune 500 Managed care company where she became known for her keen mentoring, team building and collaboration skills. Mrs. Medlock embarked on her career with The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD as a Clinical Team Supervisor with the Juvenile Justice Program before being appointed Director of The New START Program, an Adult Forensic program partnering with TCOOMMI-Texas Correctional Office on Offenders with Medical and Mental Impairments to provide mental health services to those persons released from TDCJ. Mrs. Medlock’s currently serves Practice Manager for the Children and Adolescent Unit and the Juvenile Justice Children’s Forensic Division with The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD (formerly MHMRA). She is well versed in the forensic field working with both adults and children.

Mrs. Medlock has given speaking engagements at several venues in and around the city and has been featured on Channel 2 KPRC’s Beyond the Headlines with Kim Davis. Mrs. Medlock has a passion towards the personal and leadership development in young women and girls, the children of incarcerated parents the forensic population, specifically the growing juvenile population. Mrs. Medlock has facilitated presentations in and around the city for such organizations as Dress for Success, Montrose Counseling Center, local schools and forums with a focus on education, criminal justice, Local youth organizations, Re-Entry programs, and the prison population. She challenges youth to focus and on topics such as improving communication and social skills, self-esteem and goal setting. Her experience encompasses a wide array of areas including the forensic and criminal justice arenas for both the juvenile and the adult offender. Her last project involved her first book entitled "4ortyplus Pregnant after 40" in which she is the co-author along with her husband Andre Medlock and she is currently working on her latest project which will entail the impact fathers have on daughters and how the absence of a father affects girls for life.
