My name is Gabrielle Burton and I have been a therapist for a little over 4 years now. I fell in love with the field of mental health after experiencing my own battle with anxiety and depression in college. My doctor tried to medicate the symptoms away, my pastor tried to pray them away and the nutritionist tried to diet the symptoms away. It was then that I learned the interconnectedness of the mind, body and spirit. I couldn't address one without addressing the others. Every experience we have is at a cellular level. Pain and trauma get stored inside our bodies manifesting as anxiety, depression, headaches, stomach issues, chronic health conditions, and autoimmune diseases. Until we allow ourselves to process it, our bodies will do the talking for us.
I am very passionate about working with teens, young adults, couples and families. I am a very artsy person and believe that lack of self-expression leads to depression. I often incorporate experiential techniques in my therapeutic approach involving creativity and mind body connections.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies with a minor in Leadership from the Bethel University and a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) from Lincoln Christian University. I call myself a "Gold Digger" because I believe each person has wealth within and I'd like to help you discover the hidden treasures you have inside to increase the value of your life and relationships. So if you're ready.... Let's get to diggin'!
