It is my personal belief that everyone can benefit from therapy, regardless of age, ethnicity, nationality, type of addiction, sexual/gender orientation and/or education level. I have worked in the field of psychology/mental health for 16+ years and am passionate about helping individuals, families and couples achieve more functionality, wellness and insight. I have concentrated training/experience providing treatment to inmates, parolees, people with sexual compulsions, people with sexually deviant behaviors, people with personality disorders and children in the foster care system. I provide direct, yet compassionate feedback of a solution-oriented nature to help clients achieve goals.
Family of origin is a particular focus of mine in treatment. I attempt to incorporate family members whenever possible to provide the most thorough treatment. Individual therapy techniques include dialectical behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and family systems. I also incorporate a specialized curriculum focused around building healthy relationships.
I believe that most of us come from families and/or educational backgrounds that do not teach us the skills to have healthy boundaries, assertive communication, to manage conflict resolution and/or insight to recognize unhealthy relationship patterns. Therapy will provide these skills to aide in building more harmonious relationships.
