Description

I work individuals who are dealing with grief, life transitions, adjusting to changes in relationships status, trauma (dissociation, flashbacks, intrusive thoughts), first/second/third generation American experiences, emerging adulthood and related changes as well as expectation and responsibilities that cause stress, loneliness, resentment and more. I collaborate with my clients and prioritize their thoughts, ideas and needs.

I take a destigmatizing approach to therapy and work with individuals who want to give voice to their internal world--therapy isn't just for processing out difficulties.

Your therapy with me, will be a process that uses culturally competent and evidence-based psychotherapies and strategies to facilitate behavior change, conflict resolution, assertiveness, boundary setting, trigger identification, appropriate self-soothing, effective cognitive processing and emotion regulation. You'll gain skills like informed decision making, making positive behavioral change and enhancing relationships.

We'll explore and address the origins of behavioral, thought and mood patterns and deal with current current distress caused by thinking patterns that inform behavior that causes negative mood states and challenges. My practice is rooted in Cognitive therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Dialectical behavior therapy and allows clients to address irrational thinking patterns, gain mindfulness skills to make well thought out decision, gain mood regulation and distress tolerance skills, improve communication skills and relationships and strengthen personal motivation and commitment to goals.

Clients benefit from my supportive validation, compassionate questions and practical feedback which helps them effectively gain insight into challenges and identify strategies to decrease the psychological impact of anxiety, depression, mood disorders, life transitions, relationship difficulties and early life experiences. More specifically my clients see successful treatment outcomes including: improvements in self-control, coping skills, emotion regulation, and emotional awareness.

I am certified by the Maryland Board of Social Workers to provide supervised mental health counseling services. I earned my Master of Masters of Science in Social Work from Adelphi University School of Social Work and my Bachelors of Science in Psychology from York College
