As a licensed clinical social worker, certified trauma professional, and research scholar, I draw upon multiple therapeutic and psychoeducational techniques (e.g. cognitive, dialectical, and reality therapies) to meet clients' mental health and socio-emotional needs. As a native of Chicago and representative of the hip hop generation, my specialty is helping culturally and linguistically diverse clients cope with traumatic stress, grief, and loss.
Spirituality, cultural knowledge, and self-awareness are significant to my delivery of services. As an author of dozens of scientific articles and books, my expertise is recognized nationally and internationally. My research on gender, race, and culture has been recognized by the Obama administration and recently the "United State of Women" (USOW).
