Description
I work with clients who struggle with depression, anxiety, multicultural identity concerns, LGBTQ+ concerns, sexual assault recovery, women's Issues, and family of origin issues.
I am a multicultural psychologist who provides individual therapy to adults hoping to better understand themselves and their unique experiences. I use a collaborative approach to highlight strength and resilience while assisting clients in learning to manage depression, anxiety, body image dissatisfaction, racial trauma, and interpersonal relationship difficulties. I have training and expertise in working with diverse populations, women's issues, religion/spirituality, racial/ethnic identity, sexual orientation identity development and gender identity. I have particular expertise in working with sexual assault survivors and helping navigate through the healing process.
I value empowerment and validation and aim to use a culturally aware approach that provides a safe environment to explore and understand emotions and patterns of behavior. My clinical work is not only influenced by empirical research, but also by my experiences as a first-generation, Black/Caribbean-American woman.
I bring warmth, genuineness, empathy, sincerity and humor to my clinical interactions. I believe we benefit from a welcoming place of acceptance and non-judgment, and I strive to provide this for all clients. I value all aspects of identity and work to ensure a safe and multiculturally competent space.
I do not contract with insurance companies but provide all necessary documentation for clients to submit for reimbursement! My primary location is DC, and an currently providing teletherapy to those in DC, MD & VA. I have several therapists at my practice who also provide culturally informed therapy services.
