My name is Mercy Abunaw. I am a board certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP-BC) and Family nurse practitioner (FNP-C). I live in Aurora Illinois, Married with three kids. For fun, I listen and dance to any music that has a great rhythm.
As a healthcare provider, I am committed to, and enthusiastic about helping all my patients attain their goals. My role as a provider managing your care is multifactorial. I offer counseling/psychotherapy to help you cope with life's adjustments, depression, stress, or anxiety. I assess for and diagnose mental health conditions. I prescribe needed medications when needed if psychotherapy alone is not producing the results, you are looking for. I evaluate your care for long-term maintenance therapy to keep your symptoms in remission. I have encountered thousands of patients in my career, and have experience managing all mental health issues, and chronic disease issues. I will also refer you to other professionals if needed, so that you have a multidisciplinary team that is working tirelessly to ensure you receive the care you need.
I earned my graduate, postgraduate and Doctorate degrees from Governors State University, University of St Francis, and Northern Kentucky University. I am board certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners as a Family Nurse Practitioner, and the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse practitioner. I have experience collaborating with other health care professionals in managing the care of patients of all ages in private practice as well as part of a medical group.
I am looking forward to using my knowledge and experience in helping as many patients as I can. Mental health is human health, and it is therefore, a great privilege for me to be on this platform to render my services in any way that I can.
