Dr. Leeshe N. Grimes is a Psychotherapist and the CEO/Founder of Elevated Minds. She currently provides mental health services in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) area. Dr. Grimes has been in the mental health counseling field for over ten years. She leads various initiatives and has partnerships with several organizations to help break the barriers surrounding mental health and ensuring low-income Black and Brown communities have access to mental health services.
Dr. Grimes received her B.A in Psychology from Hawaii Pacific University, M.S in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Certification in Play Therapy, and Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from Capella University. She is a licensed professional counselor, nationally certified counselor, and registered play therapist. Dr. Grimes is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated and retired from the United States Army.
Dr. Grimes research interests include misdiagnosing Black children in mental health and providing culturally competent mental health services to the Black and Brown community and the active-duty military community. Dr. Grimes focuses heavily on eradicating the stigma of mental health issues, particularly in the Black community. Dr. Grimes works with diverse populations to include, military, LGBTQ, couples and families. She specializes in adolescents and children. She is very passionate about mental health and she participates in numerous community service and outreach programs.
