Description
Hi! I'm Dr. Simmons. As a Black and White Biracial woman, wife, and mother, my personal and professional identities inform my passion for supporting individuals, couples, and families with diverse and intersecting identities. Due to my training and expertise, I might be a good fit for you if you identify as Black, Biracial, or Bicultural or are in an interracial or intercultural relationship. If you are having concerns related to trauma, anxiety, depression, family dynamics, relationships, or racial identity, I will help you to navigate challenges, discover your inner strengths, and achieve meaningful growth.
My clinical expertise includes providing individual, couples, and group therapy to men, women, and couples. I am especially skilled at helping clients discuss and process experiences of trauma, conflict, and discrimination. My training also includes the application of multicultural counseling, attachment-based therapy (psychodynamic theory), IFS, and DBT.
My approach to therapy is grounded in authenticity, empowerment, and cultural sensitivity. I view my role as a supportive facilitator; therefore, I would be happy to collaborate with you to develop a treatment plan tailored to your unique needs, goals, and readiness, to create a safe space for growth and an effective therapy experience.
