Description

I’m Dr. Erica McKinney—psychologist, professor, and advocate, who deeply believes that Black folxs deserve accessible, intentional, and emotionally safe care. I specialize in supporting individuals through fertility journeys, pregnancy after infertility, postpartum transitions, trauma, anxiety, and the invisible emotional labor so many of us carry.

My therapy space is one where you don’t have to explain your existence, code-switch, or shrink yourself. You can show up exactly as you are—tired, hopeful, overwhelmed, grieving, growing, or all of the above. Together, we’ll unpack what’s heavy, celebrate what’s blooming, and build the skills you need to care for yourself with gentleness and truth.

If you’re ready for a psychologist who sees you, honors you, and walks alongside you with warmth and expertise—I’m here.

Many of my clients come to me navigating:
• Fertility treatments and family-building decisions
• Conceiving with donor gametes or a gestational carrier
• Pregnancy after infertility or recurrent pregnancy loss
• Postpartum anxiety, depression, and identity transitions
• Stress related to medical conditions or complex healthcare systems
• Trauma, burnout, and the pressures of being high-achieving while Black
• Life changes, relationship stress, and redefining boundaries

I use evidence-based treatments—including EMDR, CBT, trauma-informed care, and a culturally responsive lens—to help you understand your emotional world, reduce distress, and build a life that feels aligned with who you are becoming.

Whether you’re navigating fertility treatments, adjusting to pregnancy or parenthood, or managing the weight of expectations, you deserve care that sees your whole story. My work is anti-oppressive, compassionate, and rooted in advocacy—because Black folxs deserve safe, affirming, high-quality mental health support.

If you’re ready to begin this healing journey, I’m honored to walk alongside you.
