Description

Even in the middle of trauma, heartbreak, and uncertainty, still you can find joy. Even Still was born out of my deeply held belief that following the toughest moments of life, a comma lingers. A comma that signals the story is not over and there is light to be found in the darkness. Consistent with the writings of psychologist Carl Rogers, I believe in the resilience of humanity. As a clinical psychologist, it is my responsibility and deepest pleasure to be your guide in self-discovery and healing. I believe that by being genuine, empathic, and providing unconditional warmth and acceptance, I can create space for vulnerability and growth.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist who offers culturally informed, evidence-based therapy for trauma (e.g., Cognitive Processing Therapy, Prolonged Exposure, Written Exposure Therpay) as well as supportive therapy for various stressors (e.g., Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy). Culturally informed means I encourage you to bring your whole self to therapy as we explore how different dimensions of your identity (e.g., race/ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation) influence your lived experiences. Evidence-based means I use therapeutic techniques with a solid research basis. These techniques will be tailored to your unique needs.

Here's what you can expect. Initially, we will have a free 10–15-minute consultation to determine whether my skillset will meet your needs. If we agree that we are a good fit, we will schedule an intake appointment during which I will ask you questions about your past experiences and current concerns. During our next appointment, we will work together to identify goals and create a plan that will best serve your needs. Throughout therapy, we will regularly track and review your progress.

My goal is to empower you. Whether it feels like you’re hanging from a string, or you have it all together but just need some support, I can get you to where you want to be. You will shift from surviving to thriving. Most people can expect to see improvement in a minimum of 4 sessions. You deserve a full, nourishing life and I look forward to walking beside you on your journey.

TRAINING AND EXPERTISE
I obtained my PhD from the #2 Clinical Psychology program in the nation. I received numerous awards and national fellowships for my research on racial discrimination and its impact on physical and mental health. I also obtained training in mindfulness-based stress reduction. Following graduate school, I completed my internship at the Bureau of Prisons where I provided individual and group therapy to incarcerated folx. Next, I completed my postdoctoral fellowship at the Department of Veterans Affairs where I obtained formal training in Prolonged Exposure, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and Written Exposure Therapy (gold-standard therapies for trauma). While there, I also received training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, which helps people to skillfully manage their emotions, distress, and relationships in order to cultivate a life worth living.
