Description

Dr. Dana (affectionately known as "The Brunch Psychologist") received her PhD from Tennessee State University in the Counseling Psychology. She also has earned a Masters of Education and a Specialist’s degree in Education from the University of Georgia in Professional School Counseling. Dr. Dana worked as a school counselor for 12 years in public education before going back to school to pursue her PhD. As a school counselor, she worked in public schools to support inner-city youth and their families. A large part of her counseling and advocacy work in public education centered around providing equity and college access for underrepresented first-generation college students. Currently, Dana is a licensed professional counselor in Georgia and completing her final requirements for licensing as a psychologist. Her current research interests include Black mental health, interpersonal relationships, and the intersectionality of racism and social media on our psychological wellbeing. Her clinical interests include young adults and adolescents, Black woman, couples and families, and juvenile justice reform. Dana is a former Ronald E. McNair Scholar and a 2020 APA Interdisciplinary Minority Fellow recipient. She completed an APA-accredited clinical internship in juvenile forensics with Harris County Juvenile Probation Department in Houston, TX. She is currently the Postdoctoral Fellow at the Children's Assessment Center in Houston, TX where she specializes in working with victims of human trafficking and sexual trauma.
