Description

Hi! I’m Dr. Reyes—it’s a pleasure to meet you. I am a Columbia University-trained psychologist in NYC. Born and raised in NYC, and of Black American and Black Latina backgrounds, I am passionate about providing inclusive, culturally aware support for adults navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, identity exploration, relationship challenges, and stress related to marginalized identity. I have extensive clinical experience developed during 14 years immersed in mental health care, including research, scholarship, and clinical practice. My experience encompasses expertise in anxiety, CBT, DBT, and LGBTQ+ affirming therapy, along with substantial experience supporting clients with ADHD and providing neurodivergent-affirming care. I create a safe, affirming space where people of all identities and orientations feel respected, supported, and empowered.

In addition to psychotherapy services, I offer executive function coaching for a broad range of clients, often drawing from my former professional experience in corporate settings.

You don’t need to have it all figured out—seeking therapy is a powerful first step. I’m here to walk with you toward greater clarity, resilience, and meaningful change.

I’m currently accepting clients in New York, offering remote sessions Monday through Friday, and in-person sessions on Wednesdays and Thursdays in my lower Manhattan office, located near the Fulton Street subway stop (A, C, 2, 3, 4, 5, J, Z trains). Please feel free to contact me directly at draproctorreyes@gmail.com or (347) 455-1465 to schedule a free 15-minute consultation.

WHAT IS MY APPROACH?

Therapy with me is collaborative and tailored to your unique needs. I draw from interpersonal therapy, psychodynamic therapy, CBT, and DBT approaches to support both deep insight and meaningful, actionable change. This means we’ll explore how your past relationships and experiences shape your present, while also building practical strategies and tools to help you move forward with clarity and confidence in your everyday life. I also utilize my advanced experience in CBT and DBT to help clients manage emotions, reduce distress, and build healthier relationships.

WHAT ARE MY CREDENTIALS? WHAT IS MY EXPERIENCE?

I have extensive clinical experience providing therapy across hospital, community mental health, and college counseling settings, developed during 14 years of research, scholarship, and clinical practice in mental health care. I have had the honor of supporting clients from many different walks of life, navigating a wide range of mental health concerns and life experiences.

Before becoming a psychologist, I worked in corporate settings after completing a BA in Public Relations from Temple University. That experience gave me firsthand insight into the pressures of high-demand workplaces and the impact they can have on mental health and well-being. As a Black female therapist and former corporate professional, I bring both expertise and lived perspective to my practice, creating a safe, collaborative, and affirming space for clients from diverse backgrounds.

I have a PhD in Counseling Psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University, and an MA in Psychology from LIU-Brooklyn. As a pre-licensed psychologist, I currently offer therapy in private practice under supervision while completing post-graduate licensure.
