Please note that this therapist does not work with any Managed Care Health Insurance programs. However, she is glad to provide a "super-bill" receipt.

DJ Cheatham is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Sex Offender Treatment Provider, and Certified Anger Management Specialist-II. She graduated from the University of North Texas with a BA in psychology and then pursued an MA in Professional Counseling from Dallas Baptist University. She specializes in treating youth, young adults, and families experiencing maladaptive behaviors, problems with conduct, issues with self-esteem, and conflict within the family system. She’s also experienced in working with individuals learning how to better manage or cope with depression, anxiety, and anger as well as those with a history of antisocial and sexual offending behavior or other personality disorders.

A key component of the therapeutic relationship is the counselor’s ability to cultivate a supportive environment free from judgement. No matter what prompts us to connect, she values the diversity of each interaction she's gifted when invited to be present and experience someone’s personal story.

While Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is the primary approach used in her work, she's also trained to meet the unique needs of her clients by implementing knowledge of various therapeutic approaches and treatment modalities as needed. Her practice with youth is developmentally informed and utilizes techniques pulled from child centered protocol and training. Treatment with all of her clients is built around and guided by evidence-based interventions. She maintains an ever-growing list of resources and enjoys providing clients with the information and tools necessary to feel equipped for their world when walking out of a session.
