Description
I am passionate about engaging individuals and couples as they navigate through life’s challenges. My work as a therapist is deeply grounded in offering a counseling experience that allows individuals to feel empowered, safe, and comfortable. I have a particular interest in helping couples navigate relational issues and individuals struggling to overcome depression, anxiety, motherhood, and other emotional concerns. In my practice, I utilize an Emotion Focused Therapy model in which focuses directly on the emotions and reconnection; counseling individuals to re-establish healthy roles, secure attachments, strengthen boundaries, and build an emotional and compassionate connection.
I began my clinical career working in community mental health, diagnosing and treating adults with severe mental illness. My work as a therapist continued at KidsTLC, a Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility, in Olathe, Kansas, where I provided psychotherapy services to adolescence (age 12-17) dealing with complex trauma. After working in PRTF, I transitioned into a group practice in Manhattan, KS, at Andrews & Associates and then started my solo practice, working primarily with couples. Additionally, I briefly spent two years working on my doctoral studies, before taking a break from my coursework to focus on health and being intentional to my current needs.
In addition to my clinical work in private practice in Kansas City, I also offer virtual sessions online for clients in Kansas and Missouri. I am also have advanced training in EFT with completion of Externship, Core Skills and Supervision. I am currently a Certified Daring Way™ Facilitator (CDWF), based on the research of Brené Brown. I am focused on vulnerability, the pain and the process that therapy can provide to enhance ourselves and relationships. I am devoted to expanding my own personal and clinical expertise, and attend trainings and workshops regularly throughout each calendar year.
I have a tremendous amount of respect and admiration for all the diversity this world has to offer. What a blessing to have so many lived experiences, so uniquely different and valuable. I am an ally for individuals from various cultural or social backgrounds as well as different expressions of gender and sexuality.
I am beyond grateful that my journey has led me here.
