l am a Florida transplant providing counseling services in Washington D.C. as a Licensed Graduate Social Worker. I specialize in substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. I also have experience providing counseling for grief and loss, chronic/ terminal illnesses and gerontology as well as anxiety, depression and life transition challenges. I enjoy working with men and women to help promote a healthier lifestyle, helping each client to achieve personal growth and progress. Through the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Enhancement Therapy and other evidenced based approaches we together can create positive change.
As a counselor, it is my goal for each client to feel safe and comfortable enough to share openly and honestly with a primary goal to improve your overall well being. I am kind and lighthearted with an understanding that therapy can come with many reservations. I utilize meditation and spiritual reflection as regular interventions to assist my clients to remain grounded and focused on self-care. Life’s challenges can be accompanied by depression, anxiety and other symptoms, which can serve as barriers to adjust and maintain resilience. Often times we need an unbiased and nonjudgmental ear to listen and hear our concerns. Through collaborative work we can create a plan to assist with moving forward to accomplish your personal goals. I aim to improve the entire person, not just one problem. It will be a privilege to take this journey with you and to witness your progress.
