I have several years of experience working in the mental health field. Most of my experience is working with anxiety, depression , life transitions, bipolar; schizophrenia diagnosis and dual diagnosis, MICA patients, complex trauma/abuse . I also have experience immigration/acculturation issues.
I use a person-centered, holistic, cognitive behavioral techniques, multicultural, and integrative approach in treatment. This means I begin where you are and tailor the treatment approach to your needs while being sensitive to how your individual cultural identities and lifestyle choices impact your experience. I primarily use evidence based techniques including cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused counseling. However, I do incorporate psychoanalytic approaches to counseling as well.
I would describe my style as warm and supportive. Collaboration is important - together we can work on establishing concrete goals and steps for you to help overcome your current problems. As a therapist, I work with you to help you identify your desires and empower you to make those positive changes in your life. I understand that making the decision to seek help can be difficult, so I use an approach that is compassionate, direct, and non-judgmental to help create an environment where you feel supported in your counseling journey. I believe in taking time and working on wellness slowly, holistically, and consistently. Just as physical health takes time and consistency, so does mental health.
