Canisha Gillon APRN, PMHNP-BC, is a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner specializing in mental health support. With more than a decade of experience healthcare and psychiatric settings to her credit, Canisha brings an innovative and compassionate approach to treating her clients . She is excited to contribute her knowledge about paths to creating equitable, person-focused care for patients from all backgrounds .
In 2011, Canisha began her career as a registered nurse (RN) specializing in treating psychiatric patients in state hospitals, inpatient psychiatric centers, and other diverse healthcare settings. Her experiences in these settings inspired her to pursue an advanced degree that would allow her to take on leadership roles focused on her passion for addressing mental health disparities against people from disadvantaged backgrounds. She graduated in 2018 as a psychiatric nurse practitioner.
An expert on using various approaches to treat mental health issues, Canisha considers herself to be a lifelong learner. She is incredibly passionate about learning about the ways that holistic care approaches can be incorporated into Western medicine to provide her patients with integrated, person-focused care. Canisha understands that seeking mental health support can be intimidating. That's why she works hard to honor the bravery of her clients by providing access to quality, innovative care that treats "the whole person."
