Description
Shalom! I'm Candice. I’m a licensed master social worker and DBT provider.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is evidence-based and effective at treating symptoms of trauma, Borderline Personality Disorder, chronic suicidality and other self-harming behaviors. DBT teaches skills in mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness.
In your initial session, you can expect a Mental Health Evaluation, Safety and Treatment Planning. DBT is completely voluntary, but active participation in therapy can help alleviate symptoms of mental disorders, repair relationships, and restore social functioning.
Outpatient DBT includes:
1) Weekly Individual DBT sessions
2) Weekly DBT Skills Group sessions
3) Between-Session Phone Coaching (as needed)
As such, DBT is a bit more intensive than traditional outpatient therapy. It can be challenging to deal with behavioral and emotional dyscontrol. With DBT, individuals and families learn how to balance both acceptance and change. For those diagnosed with a serious mental illness, will learn evidenced-based, cognitive and behavioral strategies to begin building a life worth living!
