C’aira Neal was born and raised in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area. She is a Licensed Counselor in the District of Columbia and a National Certified Counselor (NCC). C’aira earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Hampton University. She earned her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, DC Campus. C'aira currently brings knowledge and experience to Onyx Therapy Group working under the Supervision of Chevon Mathews, M.A, LPC, LCPC, NCC.
Her academic training has provided her with solid instruction including ethics, accurate diagnosis, and theory. She has professional experience in culturally competent individual and group counseling. C’aira’s personal experience has provided her with the ability to understand, empathize, and empower individuals who are experiencing mental health difficulties. She is skilled in providing counseling services to African American Adults (18 and over) experiencing a broad spectrum of mental health issues including but not limited to depression, anxiety, trauma, and addiction.
C’aira is passionate about benefiting the lives of others by fostering personal growth and change by acquiring new ways of learning and thinking through logic and flexibility, self-acceptance, personal competence, awareness of one’s full potential and establishing an interconnectedness of thinking, feeling, and behaving utilizing interventions such as Multicultural Counseling, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy.
