Description
You have probably been the responsible one for as long as you can remember. The one who gets good grades, keeps it together, does not complain, and makes everyone around you proud. And maybe that has worked, on the outside. But on the inside, you are exhausted, anxious, and not really sure who you are when you stop performing for everyone else.
That is exactly the space I work in.
I am Asia, an Associate Clinical Social Worker providing virtual therapy to Black girls, teens, and young women across California. I work with clients ages 16 to 25 who are navigating the pressure of being a first-generation student, the anxiety of figuring out who they are after high school or college, the weight of family expectations, and the exhaustion of always being the strong, reliable one in every room.
A lot of my clients are high achievers who struggle privately. They look fine. They are hitting the marks. But underneath, they are dealing with racing thoughts, people-pleasing patterns, relationship stress, and a quiet identity crisis that nobody around them seems to notice because they are too busy being impressed.
In therapy, we slow that down. We look at where the pressure is coming from, what it is costing you, and what you actually want your life to look like when you stop living it for other people. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing, and I bring a culturally grounded, LGBTQIA+ affirming approach to every session.
You do not have to explain your cultural context here. You do not have to code switch or shrink yourself to be understood. This is a space built for you.
I offer a free 15-minute consultation so you can get a feel for whether we are a good fit before committing to anything. All sessions are virtual, and I offer sliding scale rates starting at $50 per session.
