My name is Ashley Pittman, and mental health has always felt like a higher calling for me. I’m very personable, a great listener, and I truly value people and want the best for them. I graduated from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in 2017 with a Master’s in Counseling Psychology, specializing in drug and alcohol use. I first became interested in mental health after taking Psych 101 during my undergraduate studies, and from there, I decided to pursue a career in mental health therapy.
I have experience treating children, adolescents, and adults with diverse backgrounds and a wide range of mental health concerns, including anger issues, anxiety, depression, and substance abuse. My training includes integrative, cognitive-behavioral, and mindfulness approaches to therapy, and I work out of a humanistic and person-centered approach. All this means is I see you, my potential client, as the expert in your own life, and I value your comfort under my care. I’m never going to make assumptions about you, and I truly want what’s best for you. We work as a team. My friends would say I possess a strong sense of compassion and commitment to people. I do all of this while also creating a safe space to help my clients get unstuck. My expertise is wide-ranged and includes both individual and family therapy, couples therapy, trauma-informed care, and harm reduction modalities.
My own personal motto is a quote by Lisa Nichols: “You are the designer of your destiny; you are the author of your story.” I believe that we have the power to decide where we want to go in life, wherever that may be. “I’m not going to ask the world if I can be great, I’m going to give the world notice of my greatness.”
