You look like you have it all together, and most days, you do. But underneath all that functioning is a tired you don't talk about: the anxiety that won't quiet down, the low mood you keep pushing through, the irritability, the heaviness, the quiet sense that you've drifted from yourself.

Maybe it's a relationship, work stress, something from your past, or a major life shift. Or maybe you've simply reached the point where carrying everything alone isn't working anymore. If you're the strong one everyone leans on — privately overwhelmed, overthinking everything, or stuck in patterns you can't seem to break — you're exactly who I help.

I'm Ashley Adoko, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, and I work with Black women who are done just getting by. Our work together is honest and practical. We slow down and name what's actually happening underneath, then build tools you can use in real life: emotional awareness, coping and regulation skills, boundaries you can actually hold, and a clearer read on the thought patterns running the show. My clients often describe feeling more grounded, more emotionally steady, more confident in their decisions and less run by anxiety, stress, or low mood.

If faith matters to you, it has a place here too. For clients who want it, we can weave Christian faith and biblical principles into the work in a way that's clinically grounded. Never forced, always your call.

I understand the weight so many Black women carry: the expectation to be strong, the family and generational patterns, the pain that goes unspoken because there's never room for it. You won't have to shrink what you feel or over-explain yourself here.

I offer virtual therapy for women in Maryland, Virginia, Connecticut, and South Carolina, with daytime and evening availability. Self-pay sessions are $150, and I'm in-network with most major plans including Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, CareFirst BCBS, Anthem, and Tricare.

If you're feeling overwhelmed, emotionally stuck, or you just know you need support in this season, reach out. The first step toward clarity, steadiness, and real relief is a conversation.
