Hi! I am Ashanti, a warm and genuine person with a passion to see her clients grow and replenish their mental wellness. Maybe you feel stuck, with no clear goals for your future. Or maybe you don’t feel supported in your relationships. Perhaps you just want to continue to check in on yourself and maintain your mental wellness. I am here to support you in creating true and lasting change, so you can live your most authentic and empowered life. I believe that therapy should be a safe non-judgmental space where you can explore your complete self and become confident in who you are and your well-being. As your therapist, my goal is to help you maneuver those spaces that seem troublesome, unclear, and even exciting.
I am interested in working with a variety of populations, however I have a passion for peri- and postnatal individuals, black women, and LGBTQIA+ people.
I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Spanish from Huntingdon College (Montgomery, AL, 2011). In 2013, I graduated from Alabama A&M University with a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Rehabilitation. I began my career working as a career counselor for individuals with disabilities. In that role, I also supervised Undergraduate and Master’s level students in their internships and practicums. I moved on to an adjunct professor position at Maryville University before following my passion of becoming a Professional Counselor. I am a nationally Certified Rehabilitation Counselor and Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Illinois. I am currently working as an intern under the direct supervision of Ingrid Smith, LCSW at Your Therapeutic Solutions.
