Description

"Don't be sedated or seduced by the lie that success requires your surrender and erasure. Be all that you are. Nothing less."

- Dr. Thema Bryant
Hello, my name is Anisa Brazier (she/her) and I look forward to being your co-pilot on your journey towards healing!

As a clinician, my primary goal is to support my clients in healing from the inside out and tailor the therapeutic relationship to each individual's need, while simultaneously emphasizing the importance of community, connection, and collaboration to ultimately achieve liberation.

A little bit about my background: I obtained my Bachelor's of Science in Psychology degree from Loyola University and my Master's of Counseling Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology where I concentrated in Latinx/BIPOC mental health. I completed my internship at Community Counselors of Chicago (C4) within their Sexual Trauma and Recovery Services (STARS) program, where I served individuals (16+), as well as couples, and provided community mental health based counseling services to adult clients with a history of sexual trauma or abuse. Additionally, I currently serve as a graduate member on the BIPOC Taskforce for ACSSW (Association of Counseling Sexology & Sexual Wellness), where I participate in research and discussions to examine and assist in making recommendations around the needed education/training and necessary research/scholarship to assist in reducing the barriers and increase counselor efficacy in working with BIPOC communities related to sexuality and sexual wellness.

Within the therapeutic space, I intend to provide a sacred, non-judgmental, and collaborative environment where client's have the support to explore their past, present, and future self. Additionally, I tend to incorporate an integrative, holistic, and trauma-informed approach and specifically lean into therapeutic approaches such as Relational-Cultural Therapy (RCT), culturally-adaptive Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and culturally-adaptive Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to best support the healing and liberation journey of my BIPOC clients. I specialize in working with clients who may experience anxiety, depression, trauma/stress-related concerns, sexual trauma, relationship stress, as well as sexual/gender identity.
