Hey Y'all! I'm Amber Hegewald (She/Her/Hers). I am a licensed professional counselor and certified clinical trauma professional (CCTP), who was born, raised, and practices in Chicago, IL.
I have experience working with children, families, and adults in a variety of settings with various clinical needs. My areas of interest and experience clinically include working with multicultural issues, depression, anxiety, behavioral challenges, interpersonal problems, low self-esteem, trauma, emotion regulation, social challenges, identity development, and adjustment challenges in clinical, home, and school-based settings. I approach therapy by utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, as well as implementing Cultural Relational Theory into my work.
My goals include providing a compassionate environment that allows clients to be the expert of their journey in their lives and find their place within their environments, identity developments, and their pursuits of wellness. I strive to gain a better understanding of the ways in which individuals live their lives in context and how they are affected on multiple levels and to be a well-rounded clinician and advocate for social justice with an understanding of how to help my clients on an individual level tailored to their needs and treatment goals.
I am excited to experience this journey to peace and wellness with you!
