Description

First, let's take a moment to celebrate that you are taking a very important step towards prioritizing your emotional health and overall well-being. This can be scary and weird and unnerving AND exciting. Now that you've taken this step, I hope that you keep placing one foot in front of another, working towards creating the life that you desire for yourself.

My name is Alexis Brightman and I'm a masters level psychologist in the Charlotte area. I work with individuals experiencing a host of life issues, including but not limited to anxiety, PTSD, depression, relationship issues, and difficulty managing anger. I also conduct psychological evaluations, allowing for an in-depth assessment of what an individual may be experiencing mentally emotionally through the administration of testing. The results of an evaluation can provide a strong framework in completing therapeutic work. Additionally, they can assist with receiving support in occupational or educational settings.

I have a particular interest and background in addressing issues related to trauma and finding a path to healing. I have a history of research with posttraumatic growth, grounding me in the ways in which challenging life experiences can have a positive impact in our lives, drastically changing our outlooks on life. Additionally, I have a special interest in assisting minority individuals in navigating issues related to racial injustice and prejudice. I'm also an advocate for the LGBTQ community, providing support in navigating matters that are unique to those in that demographic.

Whether you decide to work with me or someone else, I encourage you to keep putting one foot in front of another. You are on the beginning of a very important journey and I wish you all the best.
