Description
I truly believe that we are all resilient and have the inherent ability to cope with any challenges that life throws our way. As such, this is my approach to working with clients, together, we will focus on discovering and enhancing those internal strengths that may have been minimized, challenged, or forgotten over the years. I work from a strengths-based and client-centered approach, meeting clients where they are in their healing journey while supporting their walk through the path of healing and transformation. I am trained in a variety of empirically validated treatment modalities such as: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Exposure Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Person Centered approaches.
I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with over a decade of experience specifically working with survivors of all forms of trauma including war-related trauma/torture, childhood abuse, sexual assault, and racial trauma. I have been honored to spend a significant amount of my career working cross-culturally with refugees and immigrants from over twenty-five different countries who spoke many languages. This invaluable experience afforded me the opportunity to develop a diverse worldview, particularly an understanding of the role of individual and cultural belief systems on who we are and how we show up in the world.
Therapy provides you a safe non-judgmental space to examine those belief systems and experiences with the goal of recognizing the ways they have contributed to and reinforced how you see yourself, others and the world. Through exploring and rewriting your story in therapy, you can truly regain control of your body and life.
I received my Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) and Masters in Clinical Psychology both from Wright State University in Dayton Ohio and Bachelors in Psychology from Wesleyan College in Macon Georgia. I also have experience conducting consultations and trainings on diversity, equity and inclusion with organizations as I am dedicated to ensuring all individuals have equitable access to safe workplaces and culturally competent mental health services.
In my spare time, you will find me spending time with family, traveling the world or watching Netflix.
