Description
Have you ever felt like:
-You weren't "enough"?
-The "other shoe" is going to drop?
-You're constantly proving your worth to your job, friends, partner, family, or cultural community?
-You were guilty and anxious when setting boundary with your parents?
-Good things are not possible for you?
If so, you might be trying to undo generations of intergenerational trauma while navigating a racist and sexist world. It is not your fault and it is not your burden to bear.
You deserve to do what's best for yourself, even if you don't fit the box, label, or expectations that people put you in.
I'm Tracy Vadakumchery, and I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in New York and Florida. I go by "The Bad Indian Therapist" on Instagram and TikTok! I help South Asian Americans and women of color peel away the layers of cultural conditioning that are actually rooted in white supremacy culture and reinforce unrealistic expectations about ourselves. I challenge what it means to be a "good girl" in these spaces.
Based on my clinical opinion, these expectations from both within and outside the community increases our anxiety and depression. I also treat body-image related issues, and I'm a trauma therapist who practices Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). But mostly, I am here to be a sounding board if you need to just vent sometimes too! I can give you all the tools in the world, but I also want you to feel safe and brave here.
If you are a Black American, African American, or an Indo-Caribbean woman who feels like you don't belong, I can imagine how isolating that must feel. I hope that you feel like you belong here in my office with me!
If you're curious about what working with me might be like and if you'd like to get a taste of what I can offer you, don't hesitate to schedule your free intro call with me today!
