Description

I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist practicing in Washington, DC. My areas of expertise include self-care, stress management, depression, anxiety, race-related stress and trauma, life and career transitions, eating issues, infertility and cancer and I have a special interest in working with Black professionals, students, activists and academics, Queer Black Folx, and those struggling with stress, infertility, imposter syndrome and the consequences of doing too much. Prior to opening my practice, I was also a professor of Counseling and Psychology at San Diego State University, Harvard Medical School, and the University of California at San Diego.

I am trained in Psychodynamic therapy and take a multicultural, strengths-based, trauma-informed approach to helping people feel better. Whether you are feeling stuck, trying to resolve a specific problem, make a relationship work, or manage stress, illness or trauma, no issue is too small or too big. I strive to develop a safe and authentic relationship with all my clients to address their goals. In therapy, I work with my clients to understand the impact of their relationships, critical life events and interlocking systems of oppression that have created suffering, and to develop skills and strategies that lead to growth and long lasting healing.

As a Clinician with 15+ years of experience and as a former professor, I have observed that when people feel more connected to themselves and others, they experience more joy in their everyday life and feel confident to overcome all the challenges that life presents. Recovery and healing are possible!
