Description

We have been helping individuals and families like yours for almost 20 years. We help rebuild and reunify families by teaching coping skills and better communication skills to children ages 3-18, adults, and families.

We help children, adolescents, and adults learn how to understand, control, and share their emotions appropriately, as well as make better choices. We can assist parents in developing strategies to help your child manage emotions, improve behavior at home and school, and help families get along better.

We are eclectic in our approach, using Play Therapy and Talk Therapy. We use play therapy with children and adolescents who have a hard time appropriately expressing themselves and talking to people about what is troubling them.

McKenzie Hobbs, LPC

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the states of Georgia (License # LPC012228) and Florida (License # TPMC2289).

I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from The Ohio State University and my Master of Science in General Counseling from Grand Canyon University. I am originally from Columbus, Ohio and spent 10 years working for Franklin County Children Services as a Caseworker and Sexual Abuse Investigator. I moved to Georgia in 2009 and worked as a Paraprofessional and Supervised Therapist, while working towards my Master’s Degree and to become licensed. During my time as a Paraprofessional and Supervised Therapist, I worked with teens and adults struggling with substance abuse, relapse prevention, and behavior issues. I have also been dedicated to helping families in crisis, as well as children and adolescents struggling with severe trauma, ADHD, behavior challenges, self-esteem, bullying, identity, depression, anxiety, family conflict, abuse, and abandonment.

I am extremely dedicated to my clients and I have an optimistic approach towards a successful outcome. I understand that therapy can be difficult and respect my clients for trusting me. Since one size does not fit all, I utilize a variety of techniques including Cognitive Behavioral and Dialectic Behavior therapeutic techniques, play-based therapy, mindfulness, stress reduction, and relaxation. We will work together to determine what works best for each individual.
