Description

I am Dr. LaWanda Hill, a licensed psychologist based in Los Angeles, California, providing therapy and coaching for Black women millennials and Gen Xers seeking emotional healing, work-life balance, and thriving relationships.

Growing up in a small rural town in northern Louisiana with limited resources, I learned early what it meant to survive. That survival mentality fueled me as I pursued a B.A. in Psychology at THEE Southern University and A&M College, followed by a Masters of Education in Professional Counseling and a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Houston.

Despite these achievements, I realized that the mindset that helped me survive would not help me thrive. As a millennial raised by boomers, I inherited patterns, coping strategies, and beliefs about relationships, stress, sexuality, and spirituality that were valuable for survival but not designed for the demands of today’s world. Navigating professional, relational, and personal spaces as the first, the few, or the only, I needed a new model that honored all parts of my identity, and no one had created it. That realization inspired me to build a practice where every aspect of Black women’s identity is honored, and no part of themselves has to shrink.

And so I did.

The Blueprint – My Approach

Many of the Black women I work with arrive feeling the weight of burnout, chronic stress, imposter syndrome, self-silencing, emotional labor, unhealthy boundaries, and unfulfilling relationships. These challenges often reflect a deeper need for new tools, strategies, and mindsets that support thriving, not just surviving.

My approach helps clients:

-Understand and express emotional needs

-Advocate for sexual and physical wellbeing

-Cultivate healthy, mutually respectful relationships

-Develop a liberating spirituality aligned with purpose

-Navigate professional spaces where they are often the first, the few, or the only

Through the Blueprint, we examine inherited patterns and cultural scripts, what served its purpose, what needs reimagining, and what must be released. Using a six-part framework, we create actionable strategies that support every aspect of life: emotional, relational, professional, sexual, physical, and spiritual.

The women I work with are the new blueprint. By stepping fully into their power and embodying this holistic approach, they model new possibilities for future generations, break cycles that no longer serve them, and redefine what it means to live fully, freely, and thriving.
